Welcome to Punta Gorda's 3rd Annual Dragon Boat Racing Event sponsored by the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce. 

This is an official SRDBA points race, bringing Dragon Boat paddlers from all over the state of Florida and beyond. (Paddlers: this is your chance to 'tune up' for the Tampa race!)

Racing starts: Saturday, April 13, 2013 - 9 AM (Awards ceremony at the end of the racing)

This Dragon Boat Festival is a Punta Gorda Community event! All you need to participate are 20 coworkers, good friends or fellow students. Dragon boating is a team sport, 20 people paddle the 40' long dragon boat 400 meters (in approximately 2 ½ minutes!) to a fast and furious finish. It is fun and rewarding.  Included in your entry fee are two practices, each of one hour length in the week before the race. Then on Saturday you are ready to compete.

In addition to competing in a fun sporting event, you are aiding a charity right here in our Punta Gorda Community.

Together with the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce, the Charlotte Harbor Paddlers, a local dragon boat club, plan to make this an annual event showcasing Punta Gorda's waterfront and the introduction of a water sport where co-ed teams of all ages can participate.

In addition, Breast Cancer Survivors in our area have formed the "Missin' Mammaries" crew. If you are a BCS and would like to join, please contact Alice Walker at joeal36@yahoo.com.  They will join survivor teams from Miami and Tampa, racing at the War on the Peace.
