Friday Facts!

Dear Chamber Member and Chamber Friends,

Here are your Friday Facts.

For Our Community and All Our Members.

From John Wright, President, Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce. Here is a copy of John’s Column printed in the newspaper on March 16.

TODAY On Friday March 19th at 1pm at the First United Methodist Church, there will be a celebration of life for Jan Sidebottom, who served for six years as Treasurer of the PG Chamber from 2007-2012 before moving over to Main Street Punta Gorda as their Executive Director prior to its closure. Jan was Branch Manager of Peninsula Bank for many years (opposite the Ice House Pub that is now Campbell’s Enrolled Agents.) Hope you are able to join us.

Mindi Abair in Punta Gorda April 6, 7, 8 2021

If you wish to attend any or all of the three proposed events next month, kindly call us as soon as possible on 941 639 3720 during normal hours Mon-Fri 9am-4pm – space is limited.

April 6, 2021 4pm-7pm – Mindi’s husband Eric will kick off with a 150 capacity wine tasting at the Peace River Botanical and Sculpture Gardens (outside), located at 5827 Riverside Drive, Punta Gorda. This will be followed by an hour set including some of Mindi’s latest releases accompanied by Ron Reinhart on keyboards. You will be seated outdoors at a four top table, and will be able to enjoy a charcuterie plate as part of your ticket price. As the gardens are open till 3pm that day, we ask attendees to arrive not earlier than 3.30pm and if you would like a docent to guide you through the gardens for a short 30 minute tour, these tours will start at 3.45pm. Come dressed casually to enjoy at elegant early evening with Mindi and Eric (both). Tickets are $75 per person, which includes your wine tasting samples, charcuterie platter, water and the entertainment. Wine by the glass will be available after the tasting for donation (not Eric’s wines though!).

April 7, 2021 7pm – end. Dine at Carmelo’s Ristorante Italiano, outside in their elegant courtyard, located at 321 W Retta Esplanade, Punta Gorda. Three course dinner, including sodas, water and coffee will be $100 per person (cash bar for alcoholic drinks). Mindi and Ron will entertain you with music and stories about the making of her latest album. Eric will be on hand to splash wines and introduce you to their wine club. Food options will be offer at time of purchase. Capacity 100.

April 8, 2021 7pm – end. Same as Wednesday’s event but hosted at The Grill at 1951, 1951 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte. Different food. Different location. $100 per person. Your choice. Why not do both!! Capacity 100.

Hope to see you in April! These tickets are NOT available on line, you must call (941) 639 3720 during our working hours Mon-Fri 9am-4pm.

We are very pleased to announce that our monthly radio show on Seaview 104.9FM will be returning to its usual monthly spot on the Bob Alexander Radio Show on the first Wednesday and Thursday of each month. Bob will call you, set up a recording time and it’ll be done over the phone and inserted directly into the programing of this very popular show. You get the option to record two x 2.5 minute slots or else simply record one and have it aired twice during the show. Bob will be able to let you know exactly during which hour it will air. The cost is an incredible $110 (payable to the PG Chamber, not iHeart). To register for the show, simply email John Wright. The rest we’ll take care of for you. City of Punta Gorda. Promote Punta Gorda “Small Business Spotlight” – The City of Punta Gorda has launched a new program entitled Promote Punta Gorda. This is a small business spotlight to focus on the businesses that are at the heart of Florida’s Harborside Hometown. Small business is a critical economic driver for the city. Not only do small businesses create jobs, they also foster community pride and create a unique sense of place. It is only with the partnership with business that the city can fulfill our mission to preserve and enhance Punta Gorda’s identity as a vibrant waterfront community, unique in character and history; and as a desirable place to live, work, and visit. Promote Punta Gorda shines the light on the many business owners and their offerings in the community. Small business owners within the City limits of Punta Gorda are eligible to have their business featured on the City’s social media channels and in the Weekly Highlights Report. To sign up to be in the spotlight visit http://www.ci.punta-gorda.fl.us/i-want-to/promote-punta-gorda-business-spotlight or call (941) 575-3394 for more information.
