ShorePoint Health (Gold)
Congratulations to Melissa Coppola RN in ICU, who won today’s Daisy Award at Shorepoint Health Port Charlotte. Her nomination was a glowing commendation of her spirit. It read;
I would like to first of all thank my nurse whole heartedly for going above and beyond the standard care I anticipated receiving yesterday. I was given the diagnosis of “PE” in a very impersonal way via a phone call by a doctor who was caring for me. Upon
receiving the news I was extremely scared and felt like I had nobody for moral support. But soon I told my nurse my fears and how terrified I was to go home because I didn’t fully understand what was going on with me. She immediately stepped into action and contacted all the appropriate people to help me advocate for myself and to insure that I wouldn’t be discharged in my current state of health. I have never known a kinder nurse or more caring person. She genuinely listened to me and took immediate steps to let me know she heard my concerns and fears. She did her very best to console me and help me calm down….
