Friday Facts for June 19, 2020

Dear Chamber Member and Chamber Friends,

Here are your Friday Facts.

Have you noticed that you are missing any mail? During the height of the COVID crisis, mail to the Chamber was being redirected and we are now learning that several checks, invoices and statements that were generated from bulk mailing systems were never delivered as “forwarding” was not permitted. Instead, that mail was “returned to sender” and has been taking a while to show back up at its source. Who knew! Lesson learned – if you think something is missing, check with your mail service. They can certainly help!

PG Chamber radio show: Now Booking for July and August
We are very pleased to announce that our monthly radio show on Seaview 104.9FM will be returning to its usual monthly spot on the Bob Alexander Radio Show on the first Wednesday and Thursday of each month (except July when the show will air July 8th and 9th to avoid the 4th July holiday).

The process is very simple – no need to visit the studio. Bob will call you, set up a recording time and it’ll be done over the phone and inserted directly into the progamming of this very popular show. You get the option to record two x 2.5 minute slots or else simply record one and have it aired twice during the show. Bob will be able to let you know exactly during which hour it will air. The cost is an incredible $110 (payable to the PG Chamber, not iHeart). To register for the July show, or any subsequent shows, simply email John Wright. The rest we’ll take care of for you. Only ten businesses per month, so don’t delay. Offering you a great way to promote your business, advertise an event or simply to show your community support. July is still available – last call 6-24-2020

Notice from City of Punta GordaDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Punta Gorda has strived to assist the local businesses by permitting business event banners for 30 days at a time with or without a business event permit. It is the City’s intent to continue this extension thru July 31, 2020.  Temporary signage permitted prior to July 31, 2020 will not count toward the allowance of 12 business events which are permitted each year. Please be advised that all temporary signage is required to be removed by August 1, 2020 and any businesses which desire temporary signage after this date must contact the City’s Code Compliance division to request a new business event permit. Also beginning August 1, 2020, all business event permit requests will be counted toward the total of 12 business events which are permitted annually. Code Compliance permits can be requested online at http://www.ci.punta-gorda.fl.us/residents/code-compliance/code-compliance-permits , email at pgcode@CityofPuntaGordaFL.com or telephone at (941)575-3352.

U.S. Treasury Department Office of Public Affairs has provided us with a Revised PPP Applications Announcement. Click Here for details.

Punta Gorda – June 12, 2020 – Six attorneys at Farr Law Firm have been selected for inclusion in the 2020 edition of Florida Super Lawyers magazine, which recognizes the leading attorneys in the state. Super Lawyers®, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
